A boy, whose age is unknown, has drowned at the Swartkops River Bridge next to the N2 in Gqeberha.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says it appears that three children were swimming on Christmas Day, near to the bridge, when they reportedly got into difficulty.
He says two children could get out of the water, but their friend was missing and the alarm was raised.
During a search, the body of the child was located and recovered from the water by police divers.
Lambinon says the body of the child has been taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
Meanwhile, Gqeberha police and Nelson Mandela Bay Fire and Rescue Services responded to reports from Atlas Security on Thursday morning of a local 53-year-old fisherman who was found deceased on rocks.
Lambinon says it appears that the man had been angling during the night.
He says after failing to return home, his wife had gone to look for him and found him deceased on the shoreline.
She flagged down a security vehicle and the alarm was raised.
On arrival at the scene, the body of the man was recovered and taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
