Volunteers from St. Francis Bay were called out at noon, to help fight a fire in a thatch-roofed holiday home in Canal Road.
NSRI station commander at St. Francis, Marc May, says local firemen and disaster management were on the scene in minutes to battle the fierce blaze.
The house could not be saved, but they managed to save five houses, and the fire was prevented from spreading further in a stiff wind.
Three of the St Francis Bay volunteers sustained burns.
They were treated and released by the ambulance service at the scene.
