The National Prosecuting Authority in Mthatha has not yet taken a decision on whether or not to prosecute Mandla Mandela on a charge of grave tampering.
That's because the docket has been sent back to the police for further investigation.
A case of tampering with a grave was opened against former President Nelson Mandela's grandson at the Bityi police station two weeks ago.
NPA spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, says they are unable to share details of the investigation with the public.
"As the NPA we have not taken a decision to prosecute Mr Mandela in the matter that relates to a charge of grave violation. This is because we have found there is still some crucial information that is outstanding in that docket. For that reason we have instructed the investigating officer to go back and do a further investigation. We are unable to share the details of the investigation." says Tyali
