Hundreds of residents living in the Western Suburbs of Port Elizabeth woke up with little or no water on Friday.
Teams restored supply to a 700mm pipeline at 5 am on Friday morning and water is now restoring flow to the Chelsea reservoir.
This reservoir needs at least 70% water to provide enough pressure to start the pumps in Greenbushes which mean that high lying areas such as Colleen Glen, Greenbushes and Rowallan Park could only get water by Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The Metro says residents who do have water are asked to use it very sparingly.
The following areas are affected:
- Greenbushes
- Colleen Glen
-Kuyga
- parts of Rowallan park
-St Albans
- Bridgemead
- Parsonvlei
- Kabega park
-Westering
-Sunridge park
-Parts of Cotswold
-Malabar
-Gelvandale
- Lorraine
- Linton Grange
- Hunters Retreat
-Morning side
As a continuity plan, nine water tankers have been placed in the affected areas.
