ANC heavy weights have just emerged from a top level meeting with the regional task team and municipality at the party's chambers in Military Road Port Elizabeth.
President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa were in town on Monday, along with other ANC officials including ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe, Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte, Eastern Cape secretary Oscar Mabuyane and National Spokesman Zizi Kodwa.
Six local branch structures were also visited during the two day visit.
Mantashe emerged from the meeting to confirm that no re-shuffling of the ANC leadership in the Metro would be taking place.
Last December, Zuma disbanded the ANC's regional executive committee in Nelson Mandela Bay and appointed a task team to prepare the ruling party for next year's local government elections.
Mantashe said he was happy with the progress the task team was making - but that there were still serious capacity problems with regards to human settlements, youth development , bulk infrastructure, water and sanitation.
"The integrated transport system, infrastructure remain an issue that needs full attention and correction and of course the question of housing is another area, whether it is building of new houses or rectification. The technical report confirmed that." said Mantashe
Mantashe said they'll be back in Nelson Mandela Bay for a follow up meeting on the 18th of May.
