Visitors and residents of Mossel Bay are now prohibited from having an alcoholic drink in the parking areas of several popular beachfront areas.
This follows after the Mossel Bay council recently made the decision to ban the drinking of alcohol in parking areas after police laid complaints about this.
The decision states that no liquor may be used on beaches or in certain parking areas.
The parking areas that are affected by this decision includes the Southern Cross in Great Brak River, Little Brak River, Santos, Dana Bay, Diaz Beach, Bayview, Hannes Pienaar Street, Nooitgedachtlaan and Souwesia. The main beach in Mossel Bay and Outeniqua beach in Glentana is included in the decision.
Notice boards to inform the public that alcohol is forbidden, will be erected at these parking areas.
There is no set fine if people do get caught drinking as each case will be dealt with individually.
