A prisoner, who escaped from the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Wednesday was re-arrested later in the evening.
The 21-year old suspect appeared in court on charges of housebreaking and theft.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says the man escaped on his way back to the police van.
Although police were present, the suspect broke loose and ran away.
He was however re-arrested in Hornlee on Wednesday night.
Pojie says the suspect has many previous convictions.
He will no also be charged with escaping from lawful custody.
