The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has advised residents not to accede to requests for so-called Christmas Boxes (cash payments) from employees, particularly those in the waste management services.
The Municipality has asked residents to notify the Public Health Directorate of "any transgressions, harassment or requests" from workers.
"Residents are also requested to make a note of the fleet number or registration number of vehicles in order for complaints to be traced to alleged perpetrators".
In a statement on Tuesday, the Metro said: "all NMB staff receive a monthly salary as well as an annual bonus".
The "alleged offenders" are often refuse collection workers, street sweepers, and toilet attendants.
