Four Eastern Cape youths charged with the brutal rape and murder of a woman in Alexandria last month, have been denied bail in the town's magistrate's court.
The case was postponed to the first of June.
The suspects, who are all teenagers, were arrested late last month for the rape and murder of teenage mother, Bonelwa Mkhokeli, who grew up in Alexandria but lived in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Tsepo Ndwalaza, says they're happy with Friday's court ruling.
"Two of the accusesd abandoned their bail application in court, while the other two were actually denied bail. We believe this sends a strong message that this is a very serious case and community is very satisfied with what the magistrate has done," he said.
