The case against the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) student accused of driving recklessly on the Port Elizabeth beachfront earlier this year has been postponed.

The 25-year-old Melusi Magwenyane was arrested on the 3rd of March after a video went viral on social media, showing a driver breaking numerous road laws by wheel spinning, driving up the wrong side of the road and even losing control of the vehicle at one point.

The incident took place at night on a stretch of Beach  Road in front of several popular drinking spots.

Police investigations revealed that the vehicle had been rented by the accused's friend.

Magwenyane’s case was postponed to the 8th of June following a brief appearance in the PE Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The 25-year-old is currently out on warning and faces a charge of reckless and negligent driving.
