The four suspects arrested for an attempted hijacking and a shooting at Nelson Mandela University have been released.
The driver of the vehicle and the suspect who allegedly fired the shots, Mthunzi Williams, was released on a thousand Rand bail.
The others three will not be charged.
The shooting incident took place at Nelson Mandela University South Campus on Wednesday, where students were protesting demanding a safer campus.
Police said they had been involved in an attempted hijacking in Central earlier.
Williams will be back in court on the 23rd of November on charges of attempted murder and the discharging and pointing of a firearm.
