Nelson Mandela University students will hold a vigil at the south campus kraal on Monday for the two students who drowned at Sardinia Bay beach this weekend.
The students were part of a beach outing by the Democratic Alliance Student Organisation, DASO, when tragedy struck.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu identified the victims as 19-year-old Lihle Tebe from the Eastern Cape and 19-year-old Lindoxolo Thenjani from Rustenburg.
She says Tebe got into difficulty in the water and managed to swim to shore where she was attended to by paramedics.
Sadly she passed away on the scene.
The search for Thenjani's body continues.
