Nelson Mandela University says it is working tirelessly to try and mitigate the impact of funding delays after higher education institutions received news this week that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme did not have enough funding for new students.
Spokesperson, Zandile Mbabela says assurance is given to admitted first-year students that their placement at the University will be held, with the hope that the funding challenges will be ironed out in due course.
She says online academic activities for first-year students from Monday 15 March will include orientation activities and preparing them for online and mask-to-mask learning, while more formal academic work will commence from 23 March.
Mbabela says they remain committed to working with all relevant stakeholders towards ensuring that no deserving student is left behind and they will continue to liaise with NSFAS for a speedy resolution to the funding challenges.
