One of Nelson Mandela Bay’s townships severely impacted by the novel Covid-19 virus pandemic, Kwazakhele, will be the first stop when the
Metro launches its massive deep cleaning and sanitising project on Wednesday.
The Bay’s acting executive mayor, Thsonono Buyeye says the Metro now has over 14 000 confirmed cases and townships and informal settlements remain hotspots.
With this project, the municipality aims to decrease the chances of infection of people living in the townships, with a special focus on informal settlements.
The Metro says it has hired SMME’s, who have expertise in deep cleaning to disinfect and sanitise areas across the Bay.
