NMBM extends load-shedding schedule

Residents of Nelson Mandela Bay may have to endure load-shedding twice in a 24 hour period.

This, after the Municipality brought it's latest schedules in line with the rest of the country.

Municipality spokesperson, Roland Williams, says up until now the Metro had been running a 16-hour load-shedding schedule.

However, he says Eskom has asked the Municipality to align its schedules with the 24 hour cycle.

He says this means that some groups may experience black-outs twice a day if it became necessary.

Meanwhile, the ANC says troubled state institutions like Eskom, the NPA, and the SABC are receiving attention.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe said on Monday that the ruling party had noted serious with concern the developments at these state-owned institutions.

Speaking after the ANC's national executive committee meeting this past weekend, Mantashe said the NEC is confident that these matters are receiving the necessary and urgent attention from ANC deployees in government.

Mantashe would not discuss problems plaguing Eskom and the National Prosecuting Authority saying they don't discuss operational details of state-owned institutions.
