Nelson Mandela Bay's chief operating officer, Israel Tsatsire, will serve as acting municipal manager until a new permanent appointment is made.
This follows a decision by Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, to recall the long-standing acting municipal manager Themba Hani.
His departure has come after Council passed a motion of no confidence in him.
On Thursday, executive mayor Zanoxolo Wayile, will have to present a report to Council on a new permanent appointment.
Council will then vote on his recommendation.
