Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism expects that more than 10 cruise ships will dock in Port Elizabeth's harbour over the next few months.
The Manager of Information Services at NMBT, Cheryl Witte, says the normal cruise ship season in Southern African waters is between November and April.
Witte says there are currently two cruise ships in port -- the Deutchland and Europa, which docked on Monday night and Tuesday morning respectively...
"In the previous year there were 12 dockings a year before there were 11, it looks like this year there will be a similar amount of dockings. Passengers are normally foreign, in this case there are Germans on board, on the Europa there are 350 packs and the Deutchland 315, and Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism would normally assist in terms of providing an information facility for disembarking passengers that have not committed to an excursion or guided tour" Witte said.
MSC Cruises has deployed two larger vessels in Southern African waters for the current season, the Sinfonia and the Opera, and Port Elizabeth can expect four visits by these vessels.
