The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber says the steep fuel price hike is bad for business.
Chamber CEO, Kevin Hustler, says businesses are already struggling to cope with sharply rising input costs.
He says the fuel price hike is also bad news for consumers.
Yesterday, the Energy Ministry said that the price of fuel will increase by up to 71 cents a litre next Wednesday, while diesel will increase by between 47 and 61 cents.
Paraffin, used mainly by the poor, will also rise sharply.
The Ministry says a strong Rand helped to keep the fuel price hike in check.
