Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality said the Metro's water supply remains under pressure due to a decrease in dam levels and continued high consumption.
Spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki, said on Wednesday that they have implemented several measures since "the start of the water crisis last week that saw some areas running out of water".
These included "stricter monitoring of the work done by the water leaks team, the implementation of a robust awareness campaign, and the identification and prioritisation of major water leaks."
He said this has led to a slight improvement in the situation and that further interventions are being made.
"Currently we are experiencing intermittent or no water supply in Humewood, City Hall, and Govan Mbeki Avenue areas," Mniki said, adding that "water tankers will be deployed to the affected areas".
He said since last week, supply had been restored to the following areas:
- Walmer Heights
- Walmer
- Charlo
- Newton Park
- Mill Park
- North End
- Sydenham
- Algoa Park
- Parts of Zwide
- New Brighton
