Southern Cape police are investigating the brutal murder of a 22-year-old local woman whose body was found in Jonkersberg outside Great Brak River on Tuesday evening.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Laurianne Botha, said the deceased had been identified as local librarian, Clodine Nuys.

Botha said her body was found behind the Jonkersberg Creche, around six pm after community members launched a search party for her when she did not return home from work.

She said an 11-year-old boy came across her body and found her lying on her stomach with her hands and feet bound with tape and a cable tie around her neck.

Botha said the young woman, whose mouth was also covered with tape, was last seen leaving her house at seven o clock on Tuesday morning when she headed off to work at the town's library just a kilometre away from her house.

Sergeant Botha said her cellphone and the library's keys are missing and that no arrests have yet been made.
