A security guard has been assaulted and stabbed at the Potgieters Gate entrance to the Addo Elephant National Park.
SA National Parks said the incident took place on Tuesday night.
Regional spokesperson, Fayroush Ludick, said two men arrived at the park gate and demanded the security guard's firearm.
She said the guard, who is employed by a private company providing services to SANParks, was not armed.
Ludick said the men assaulted and stabbed him in the hand before fleeing empty-handed.
She said he is recovering in hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
