The taxi strike which started in Nelson Mandela Bay on Tuesday is continuing.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge confirmed that a truck was on fire earlier near Truckers Inn and that several roads in the Metro are being barricaded by burning tyres.
He says at the moment the main roads like the N2, M19-Redhouse road and the Rocklands are open.
As at 9 am the following roads were blocked:
-R75 by Ke Nako Mall
-Old Uitenhage Road between Missionvale and Bethelsdorp
-R335 @ Truckers Inn
-The N2 intersection up to the Ikamvelihle police station
-Maduka Road in New Brighton
-Mavusa and Njoli Road
-Heugh Road Walmer at the 9th avenue intersection
-Daku Road in Kwazekhele
-Various roads in Bethelsdorp including Standford Road
-Nooitgedacht road in Bloemendal
-Motherwell NU2, NU5, NU10
Beetge says they have also received reports of fires along Govan Mbeki road near Bristol house.
On Monday seven people were arrested on charges of damaging infrastructure.
The situation remains volatile and can change at any moment.
