Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Interim Executive Mayor Thsonono Buyeye says an isolation site is being established in the Metro in order to temporarily look after those affected or infected by COVID 19.
Buyeye announced on Thursday that they were working in partnership with the Department of Health and were mindful that many people in the Metro have difficulty with self-isolation, due to housing and other social challenges.
He said the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is an asset of Government with world-class infrastructure perfectly suited to respond to the current pandemic.
The Executive Mayor added that they are working with their entity, the Mandela Bay Development Agency to prepare the Stadium with assistance from the Public Health directorate.
Some of the work they are busy with includes converting hospitality suits into isolation rooms and doctor's facilities.
The Municipality expects the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium site to be ready for occupation in a matter of days.
