The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has announced that City residents will be able to book drivers’ and learners’ licenses online from Monday the 1st of March.
The Metro says in a statement that the booking of an appointment to renew drivers’ licenses can be done seamlessly from home and the booking of appointment slots for learners’ and drivers’ licenses is now much more simplified.
The website to visit is https://www.online.natis.gov.za
Councillor John Best, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, said he is excited that a major milestone has been achieved in addressing the endless long queues at the traffic department.
For learners’ and drivers’ licenses, consumers are still required to go to the selected traffic department within three days of making the online booking for eye tests and to pay the requisite transaction fee.
Warren Prins, Head of Traffic and Licensing, said terminals at the Driving License and Testing Centres in Korsten and Uitenhage are considered for online access as well as other digital solutions to provide access points in communities.
Prins says it took numerous engagements with the Department of Transport, who in turn had to collaborate with the Road Traffic Management Corporation, in order to realise this project.
