The Nelson Mandela Bay Ratepayers Association and AfriForum say they have filed a High Court Application for the cancellation of the irregular extension of a contract between the Metro and the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium's operator, Access Management.
The Ratepayers Association's Kobus Gerber says an investigation revealed that Ratepayers monies have been channelled through Access Management to the EP Kings as a loan, which in his view, was illegal.
He says the Metro had sufficient time, at least 18 months, in which to follow proper Supply Chain procurement processes in order to appoint a stadium operator, after the expiring of the existing contract with Access Management.
Gerber says they failed to do so, and by way of a deviation, re-appointed Access for a further 12 month period in March this year.
