Computer equipment belonging to the Vice-chairperson of the AfriForum branch in Port Elizabeth and Chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Bay Rate Payers Association, Kobus Gerber, was stolen from his work office on Thursday night.
This follows after the Hawks seized computer equipment and documentation from stadium operator Access Management at the NMB stadium earlier in the day.
AfriForum, in support of the Rate Payers Association, approached the High Court in PE in November 2015, because Access Management in collusion with the Metro Municipality allegedly channeled money to the EP Kings in an illegal manner.
According to Pieter Rautenbach, General Advisor for Community Structures at AfriForum, a civil court application was lodged at the High Court in PE in February of this year in which it was requested that an independent auditing firm be appointed to launch an urgent forensic investigation.
Gerber told AlgoaFM News that he would be opening a case with police after two of his computers were stolen during Thursday night's break-in.
He says the thieves clearly knew what they were after, because cash in a drawer in his office had been left untouched.
