The Mandela Bay Development Agency hosted a mid-term review session on Friday, to report on the progress of an R80 million German government funded safety and peace programme in Helenvale.
Overall, 30% of the project has been delivered by MBDA to the community in PE's northern areas.
The programme aims to deliver infrastructure, promote safer schools and youth employment, prevent domestic violence and improve living space.
A Senior Project Manager at Germanyâs development bank KFW, Gabriele Götz said the project was progressing well and on track.
She believes that other global cities can replicate the model of Helenvaleâs urban upgrading for peace and safety.
Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Athol Trollip said the city wanted to see the Helenvale community transformed, and gave his appreciation and vote of support to KFW, MBDA and the Helenvale community.
Trollip also underscored the importance of community ownership and stewardship for the future of the project.
