Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Mongameli Bobani has urged communities to bring an end to crime and gangsterism.
He was speaking at the launch of a crime awareness campaign in the gang-plagued Northern Areas of the Metro on Sunday.
The campaign, called the 'Festival of Hope' is in partnership between the Municipality and the SA Police Service.
Gang-violence in the Northern Areas of the Metro has claimed more than 80 lives since April this year.
Police say the event, which will be staged in a music festival format, seeks to encourage the youth to refrain from participating in violence and gang-related activities.
