Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Ben Fihla, has pledged support for the families of those who were killed in the Nigeria church building disaster.
Fihla, accompanied by his mayoral committee and leaders from the SA Council of Churches, visited some of the families on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Metro Municipality, the mayor also used the opportunity to establish what assistance the families may need ahead of the funerals on Saturday.
Five people from Nelson Mandela Bay lost their lives in the Nigerian tragedy.
Twelve people from the Eastern Cape were among the 81 South Africans who died when the lodge, owned by charismatic Nigerian preacher TB Joshua collapsed in September.
The remains of the victims were recently returned to South Africa.
