Increase in reward for information on Jackal deaths at Addo

The Wildlife Operations Group, co-ordinated by the Wilderness Foundation, has upped the reward for information on the poisoning of jackal in the Addo National Elephant Park.

The Group said on Thursday that it will supplement the R10 000 reward already offered by SA National Parks to bring the total reward on offer to R50 000.

In a statement, the Wildlife Operations Group said while SANParks investigators are still following up on a number of leads, it is hoped that members of the public will be able to assist with the investigation by providing information linked to the incident.

It says the criminal motivation behind the illegal killing of around 40 jackal as well as other smaller species, remains unclear.

Matthew Norval is the Conservation Director at the Wilderness Foundation.
