A 23-year-old man has died after he was brutally assaulted by community members who accused him of theft in Whittlesea near Komani.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says the mob are believed to have gone to his house and forcefully took him to a nearby school in the Sada Township, where they severely assaulted him on Wednesday night.
Members were called to the scene and on arrival, they found a group of people standing around the victim.
Soci says he had visible bruises on his body.
She says the murder and public violence investigation led to the arrest of nine suspects aged between 23 and 63-years-old.
Two of the suspects have been charged with murder, while the others have been charged with public violence and possession of dangerous weapons.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
