New rock paintings have been discovered in the Swarteberg Mountain Range by two women from the Cape Fold Mountains Rock Art Project.
Botanist, Isolde Mellet, said the "new rock art" consists of four drawings that she said looked like a painted war scene.
Drawings of "red klipspringers" were also found painted on the rocks.
Mellet and her archaeologist colleague, Vickey Nardell, have been working in the Southern Cape region for the past two weeks.
She said the artifacts and drawings remain the property of the farmers on whose farms they were found.
The pair are busy officially documenting the find which will then be presented to a museum in the area.
