Organisers of the Northern Arts Festival in Nelson Mandela Bay have set a new date for the two-day event.
The seven-year-old festival was cancelled this year to make way for the Motherwell Development Arts Festival, a new municipal event scheduled for the 27th of September, the same time that the Northern Arts Festival is usually held over Heritage weekend.
Festival director, Billy Paulson, told a media briefing on Tuesday that while this year's event will not go ahead, the Northern Arts Festival will be back on the calendar on the 20th of March next year.
He says however that the various projects run by the Festival, including the Sky's Da Limit talent search, will continue.
Paulson says since 2007, the Northern Arts Festival has unearthed numerous young artists, from singers to dancers who have gone on to bigger and better things.
These include singer Gino Lee and dance group, Dejavu, who will represent South Africa at an international dance and fitness championship in Prague in the Czech Republic in October.
Two of the dancers, Sachin Baaitjies and Cheslyn Meyer say the Northern Arts Festival is something special.
