All administrative staff at the Traffic Department in the Nelson Mandela Metropol went on strike on Monday morning.
Metro Spokesperson Kupido Baron says the traffic department offices in Uitenhage, Sidwell and Korsten have been closed, as have all municipal traffic courts.
Baron confirmed that the labour dispute is over pay issues.
He told AlgoaFM News that traffic officials out on the road were working.
Baron said the wage issue could not be tabled at council last week due to unforeseen circumstances, and would be taken back to another council meeting in the near future.
Baron could not say how long the admin staff planned to stay away from their posts.
