A naked man who was spotted running along Beach Road in Humewood in Gqeberha on Wednesday afternoon has been hospitalised.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the 24-year-old man allegedly crashed his mother's vehicle into a fence around the beach office.
She said he then stripped naked and started running into oncoming traffic until a SAPS patrol saw him in the middle of the road near the M4 freeway at Walmer Boulevard.
Naidu said police managed to restrain and detain the man with the help of some community members.
She says he was allegedly under the influence of narcotics.
A case of reckless and negligent driving is under investigation.
