Eastern Cape police have released the name of the farmer from the Addo area whose body was found near the Seaview off-ramp on the N-2 on Monday morning.
He was the 62-year-old Allan Clarke from the farm Sundowner.
Three suspects, aged between 23 and 30, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Mount Road Police's acting cluster commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll, said the swift arrests were the result of good cooperation between members of a private security company and the police.
He says around 1am Kabega Police were notified by the security company of a vehicle parked near a service station in Greenbushes with three occupants inside.
Koll says when police arrived on scene they questioned the men about the vehicle's ownership and after noticing blood on the back of the bakkie one of the men allegedly admitted to the involvement in the attack on the farmer.
The three will appear in court in Kirkwood on Wednesday.
