Two Eastern Cape men found guilty of conspiring to murder top ANC officials in the province were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in the Mthatha High court on Friday.
Fifty-eight- year old Thembinkosi Mapeyi and 39-year-old Thembile Ceba were convicted earlier this week of conspiracy to murder five Eastern Cape politicians, including MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane and ANC provincial secretary Oscar Mabuayane.
They were each sentenced to 18 years in prison, of which three years were suspended.
Ceba was also sentenced to three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm, which will run concurrently with the other sentence.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, welcomed the sentence.
