Multi million rand upgrade for Dora Nginza hospital

One of Port Elizabeth's biggest public hospitals is due to start a major infrastructure and refurbishment upgrade.

The upgrade of Dora Nginza Hospital will include the permanent relocation of the Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital to a brand new building on the Dora Nginza site.

Attending Friday's sod-turning ceremony for the new development were Siphiwe Ntombela of the Coega Development Corporation, Eastern Cape Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana, Dora Nginza acting chief executive Dr Bukelwa Mbulawa-Hans and the acting chief executive for the hospital complex Solly Pretorius.

Gqobana said the project showed that government was committed to delivering quality health services.

He said efforts to recruit higher numbers of medical resources were being intensified - and training initiatives were being fast-tracked at a national level.
