PE arms dealer in court on fraud charges

Well known Port Elizabeth general arms and ammunition dealer Arthur Webb and former SA Revenue Services official Petrus Meyer made a brief appearance in the PE Commercial Crimes Court on Friday morning.

According to the charge sheet, they're alleged to have colluded in the submission of fraudulent Vat refund returns valued at more than R6.5m.

The case was remanded to the 27th of June and both Webb and Meyer had been granted bail of R5 000 each with strict conditions.

They were ordered to hand in their passports and instructed not to interfere with State witnesses.
