Multi-million rand poultry farm investment for Stutterheim

Red Crest Farms is planning to establish three new chicken houses, each with a capacity of 40 000 birds on 1.2 hectares of land at Stutterheim.
The facility,which involves a capital investment of R14 million and will generate a projected yearly income of R28.5 million, will result in approximately 50 people being employed during the development phase and 10 permanent jobs once it is operational.
The projected value of the employment opportunities is put at R2.3 million of which R1.4 million will accrue to previously disadvantaged individuals, according to the Basic Information Document on the project.
Currently only 17% of the economically active population is employed in the municipality.
Metrominute reports that Red Crest Farms has now embarked on an environmental impact assessment for the project
