The Mozambican woman who was found guilty of kidnaping a three-year-old girl in Mdantsane will appeal her sentence at the Grahamstown High Court.
Sindiswa Ntshukane was arrested in Gauteng by the Hawks September.
She was jailed for 20-years for kidnapping the little girl from her family home in Mdantsane and taking her to Mozambique from where she tried to extort half a milion rand from the girl's family.
State prosecutor Joel Ceaser said Ntshukane appeared in the Mdantsane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He said that the presiding magistrate had granted her application for leave to appeal.
The little girl, Perfect Gift Msesiwe, was officially returned to her parents by Deputy Minister of Police, Maggie Sotyu.on Thursday.
At the time Sotyu issued a stern warning to parents, emphasising the need to check identification documents and do background checks on domestic workers, especially those meant to look after children.
