Nelson Mandela Bay firefighters are busy battling a fire that is currently ablaze at the BDP Building in North End.
Metro spokesperson, Kupido Baron, said officials were alerted to the fire at 3 South Street before 2 pm on Tuesday.
He said the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
Baron could also not confirm if the building is vacant or if a business operates from the premises.
He said further information will be made available from the teams on the ground as soon as possible.
Motorists are urged not to stop to take photographs and to allow authorities to attend to the fire.
