Residents of Nelson Mandela Bay are urged to take caution following an increase in Covid 19 active cases and hospital admissions in the city.
According to the latest statistics from the Department of Health, there were 313 active cases in the Eastern Cape as at Monday the 17th with 154 of those active cases being in Nelson Mandela Bay.
A municipal spokesperson Mamela Ndamase says the Metro has been highlighted as the City with the highest active cases in the Province with Summerstrand, Gelvandale, Lorraine and Greenbushes identified as areas of concern.
NMB Mayor Nqaba Bhanga says there is a threat of a possible third wave and that the current numbers are going in the wrong direction.
He says cases seem to fluctuate between 8 and 30 per day.
