Motorists burnt beyond recognition following head-on collision outside East London

Two people burnt to death after their vehicles burst into flames in a collision on the N2 between East London and Butterworth on Thursday morning.

Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell says a light motor vehicle and light delivery truck collided head on and burst into flames.

The accident happened shortly after 7am close to the Kwelere river.

Bramwell says both drivers were trapped and burnt beyond recognition.

The road was closed for several hours.

The name of the victims are not yet known.
