Mossel Bay woman jailed for 15 years for murdering her friend

File

Fallon Edwards, 32, who was charged with the murder of her friend was sentenced to an effective 15 years behind bars on Tuesday after she entered into a plea agreement with the state in the Mossel Bay Regional Court.

Edwards has been in custody since her arrest last year after she stabbed 27-year-old Kirsty James more than 64 times with a knife at her workplace, NDK Valuers in Mossel Bay on 17 October 2022.

James succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

Edwards pleaded guilty and claimed that it was James who apparently wanted to stab her first.

She said in her plea agreement that it was not she who committed fraud with the company's credit card, but James, and that this apparently caused tension in the friendship.

The state accepted her plea agreement and took into account the fact that she was a first-time offender.

The fact that she pleaded guilty and did not waste the court's time also counted in her favour.
