A 50-year-old teacher from Erika Primary School in Mossel Bay will remain behind bars for now following his arrest for alleged sexual assault of pupils.
The teacher, who cannot be named until he has pleaded, is accused of sexually assaulting four learners on separate occasions during school time.
The latest incident allegedly happened last week which led to his arrest.
The victims are aged between 13 and 15 and are all girls who attended his class.
A spokesperson for the Western Cape Education Department Bronagh Hammond told AlgoaFM News that they are aware of the arrest, and allegations and is communicating with the principal on the outcome of the bail hearing and if granted, what restrictions there might be.
The teacher will be back in court on 22 June.
