Mossel Bay school closed after teacher tests positive for Covid19

The Garden Route Primary school re-opened for teachers on the 25th of May under strict conditions as prescribed by the Department of Health in the Western Cape.

The Garden Route Primary School in Mossel Bay has been closed after a teacher has tested positive for Covid-19.

Principal, Nicolas Gertse confirmed to Algoa FM News that the Department of Education instructed the school to close immediately so that the area and classrooms can be disinfected.

Gertse says this will be done over the next two days and the school will re-open on Monday.

Meanwhile, a grade 12 learner at Grey College in Bloemfontein has tested positive for Covid-19.
The Free State Department of Health's, Howard Ndaba says the learner arrived at the school hostel on Sunday with symptoms related to the virus.

Ndaba says the school will not be closed down, instead, measures have been taken to ensure all the other learners are screened and tested for the virus.
