Mossel Bay reservist nabbed by the Hawks

The Hawks are investigating a case of fraud and corruption after a former reservist from a local police station in Mossel Bay, allegedly duplicated a docket file.

Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says a 52-year-old man from Mossel Bay was arrested.

Correspondent Louise Karsten reports.

The suspect, who is a former reservist from a local police station promised his client, who had a case of drunk driving against him, that he would make the docket disappear.

The suspect apparently duplicated the docket after which he handed it over to his client.

The client had to pay the suspect a huge amount of money for the favor.

The 52-year old man was arrested and appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate court on charges of fraud and corruption. He was released on bail.

The case is postponed to the 24th of July.
