Mossel Bay police on high alert as protesters regroup

Police are on high alert at KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay, where a violent service delivery protest has entered its second day.
More than a thousand protesters burnt down a municipal building on Sunday and also vandalised the traffic lights at the intersection of Louis Fourie Road and Mayixhale Street.
Protesters burned down a municipal building, and reports were received of vehicles being stoned on the N2 turn-off to Dana Bay.
The protesters regrouped on Monday morning and tyres are being burned in Elangeni.
Police are on high alert and the Public Order Police Unit of George is assisting local police to restore order.
The public is advised not to attempt to travel along Mayxhale Street for the time being.
