Mossel Bay police are investigating a murder and armed robbery following the death of a 54-year-old man on a farm early on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie says Freddie Tolman of the farm Outeniquabos near Hartenbos, died after being shot by a group of men who ambushed him on a dirt road near his farm.
He says the suspects had barricaded the road with branches and when Tolman apparently refused to stop, several shots were fired, hitting him in the upper body.
Pojie says says the fleeing gang hijacked a couple travelling from Brandwag to Hartenbos.
They were not injured and their stolen car was found at the Dana Bay off-ramp.
